If you were wondering who the group of people sipping wine, eating tacos and enjoying tofu curry were on Wednesday
night at Yayo Taco, well it was no other then a Vegas Vegan Drinks gathering. Every 4th Wednesday of the month local vegans and some visiting vegans get together over drinks at talk all things veg. These folks are announcing upcoming events, sharing news on animal rights, making new vegan friends or just enjoying some great vegan eats.
The concept of Vegas Vegan Drinks was inspired by Vegan Drinks in New York City. The idea is to connect vegans {and some open minded non vegans} in a fun setting over cocktails. Vegas Veg brought Vegan Drinks to Las Vegas. February’s Vegas Vegan Drinks was hosted by Beth Maier. By day she is an executive with the Wynn Resorts but after work she is volunteering at The Farm, an active member of Vegas Veg and Raw Foods Las Vegas meetup groups. Beth was kind enough to collect blankets and towels from guests to bring back to the animals in need at The Farm.
There was a good turnout of local vegans, visitors, and a couple of non vegans. Among the guests was one gentlemen visiting from Brooklyn, New York and a couple of non vegans who were interested in learning more about veganism. One of those open minded individuals was Steven Lambert, co founder of WGA Marketing. He was just excited to try some new vegan foods and learn more about the movement.
Ina Mohan was one of the local vegans and active member of Vegas Veg meetup group. Her eclectic background included being a certified chef, hospitality technology professional, animal activist and now health and wellness entrepreneur. Ina founded Belsandia to assist people to live a healthier, more conscious, and greener lifestyle. Her website is open not only to vegans but to all people who are seeking a healthier way of live.
The overall vibe was friendly, welcoming and interesting. If you miss out on this months’ Vegas Vegan Drinks, there is always next time. Go to Vegas Veg meetup page to learn about this event and more. See you at the next event!
vegan meet ups are every 3rd wednesday of the month, which is also ladies night, 1 dollar beers (corona, pacifico, bud, pabst)
