• First Kale Harvest from the Rooftop

Posted on May 23, 2013 by in FOOD, HOME + GARDEN

In January, I moved to the first residential eco/urban farm in New York City.

When I moved in it was winter with not much greens growing. There was one piece of kale that survived growing on the roof and a green house that had seen better days. Now, Spring is here and the farm is blooming!

The other day I was just gifted the first piece of kale from summer harvest. I’ve already enjoyed farm-fresh salad with the greens growing here and soon I’ll be able to shop for organic, local produce by going on the roof. Super cool. Here’s a picture of the kale. So beautiful, almost don’t want to eat it : )

I’ll be creating simple, delicious, and nutritious (mostly raw) seasonal recipes using local organic fruits and vegetables from Hellgate Farm and Hellgate CSA to share on VeganConsultant.com. With each recipe you’ll learn about the power of the plants for your health and their medicinal benefits. And each time you choose a plant-based meal, you are helping save an animals life and the planet. It’s a win-win for all. More to come soon!

    Be well,

    Kelly xx
